What is the Sound in the Avengers: Endgame Credits?

By now, you’ve probably heard that there is no mid credits scene or post credits scene in satisfying (and exhausting) emotional pyrotechnics to go with the cosmic ones, Endgame had nothing to gain by adding anything else. Even movie theaters seem relieved, using it as an excuse to clear out audiences faster so they can show the film as often as possible.

Since the practice was The Avengers followed by the exhausted shwarma eating scene for the post credits.

Avengers: Endgame finishes on some powerful notes, whether it’s Marvel Studios‘ 22 film “Infinity Saga” which saw the formation of the Avengers and Thanos’ rise to near-godhood. Teasing the Fantastic Four or the eventual arrival of Galactus or the first hints of the existence of mutants would only cheapen that accomplishment. But while Avengers: Endgame doesn’t have a post credits scene, it’s still worth sitting through to the very end (if your bladder can wait another couple of minutes).

If you listen very carefully as Alan Silvestri’s score fades out, you can hear a faint clanging sound. It’s not part of the music, and it’s just faint enough that you could almost mistake it from coming from outside your theater. This is almost certainly the sound of Tony Stark forging the Mark I armor in the cave during the events of Iron Man in 2008. It’s a subtle final tribute to the hero who made the MCU possible, and a reminder of how far the MCU story has come over the last 11 years.
